favorite: budget eyeshadow

I picked this little guy up on a whim before a holiday party, and turns out...it's my new favorite! These 4 colors are all you need for NYE and beyond. I love patting a little white and gold on my bare lid for everyday, and the black and copper make the perfect smoky eye. What more can you ask for at $10.99!

sending you a christmas card

What started out as a silly joke, has now turned into an Adams family tradition. Every other year we choose a theme, pick out a few holiday karaoke tracks, and record a cd that then becomes our Christmas card. This year as you can tell, it was 80's theme! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from me and Mr. Matty! I am looking forward to more fun things to share in 2010!

merry christmas to me

This may be old news, but I just learned that the next Target partnership to hit stores will be none other than Liberty of London! (eek!) I am a huge fan of this sweet brand of prints from across the pond. Read more about all the products to hit shelves March 14th here!

dear melodie

Lately I have been getting a few emails from readers asking for some thrifty fashion ideas. Here is one below. Please comment if you have other ideas for Jaime! If you have a question you would like answered, send me an email, I will post it here on the blog and let other readers give tips as well!

Dear Melodie,
I have spent HOURS looking online for a cute dress for NYE. I haven't been able to find ANYTHING that i like that's affordable! I have looked on etsy, amazon, alloy, delias, target and tons of other places. Do you have any more ideas? I'd love something retro-ish... I love shirtdresses... and I like short sleeves or cap sleeves (i feel naked in straps)... and I'm looking to spend less than $40. any ideas? P.s. I love this one below from J.Crew but don't want to spend that much.

Dear Jaime,
I too love that dress from J.CREW. Here is a similar dress from Converse for Target, and it's only $34.99! Add some great jewelry, and a fabulous shoe, and you are all set! P.s. it also comes in black and pink! Happy NYE!

glitterati

I am currently obsessed with everything glitter...especially this polish! When I went to look for it at a store in Nashville, the saleswoman told me, "I only buy polish that will sell". Well someone is buying because they are sold out everywhere online until January 1st.

deep in the heart of texas

Over the weekend, Mr. Matty and I traveled to Texas for a family wedding. After a recommendation from a friend, we stayed at the Cedar Mountain Lodge Bed and Breakfast. This place was a great reminder why Texas is one of the most peaceful and friendliest places on earth! The staff bent over backwards making sure we had all we needed, and treated us like family. The accommodations, food, and natural surroundings make you feel instantly at home. If you are looking for a great getaway while in Texas, travel to Cedar Mountain Lodge.

DIY: the eddie ross wreath

My Wreath

Eddie's Wreath

Every since seeing this wreath by the brilliant Eddie Ross...I just had to have it! I spent all last year snagging ornaments at goodwill and at after season sales. I even scored a few vintage ones for less than a buck! I am in love with the final product and think it's one of the easiest projects with the most punch! I would like to offer a few tips.

1) When shaping your wire hanger, it's easier to do this while the hanger is still connected giving you more control to make it a perfect circle. Once you have your shape like you like it, then undo the hanger.

2) Make sure you have enough little ornaments. These are key in filling in dead air and making the wreath look full.

3) I wouldn't recommend hanging this wreath on a door that's gets a lot of use for fear of smashed ornaments.

Thanks to Eddie for such wonderful inspiration! Find his tutorial here.

stay tuned....

A new DIY is on it's way soon! Here is a preview.

help portrait

Our friend Jeremy started a wonderful new movement called Help Portrait. On December 12th, photographers from all over the world will be using their photography skills to give back to their community. Photographers will grab their cameras, find people in need, and take their picture. When the prints are ready they will be delivered. Are you a photographer? Watch the video above and get ready to be inspired.

customer service hero

Today I needed to return a package to Modcloth, and when I called, I was blown away by their excellent customer service. The sweet girl also informed me they now offer FREE returns! I am now an even bigger fan of this fabulous company. If only they could provide a customer service class to Sprint and Comcast.
