I couldn't believe it when I stumbled upon this vintage rocking horse at an estate sale last week! I just love the painted detail and bright red seat!

mast general store

On Monday I went with the hubby to Knoxville, TN. He was teaching at UT Law School so I decided to kill time by hunting for some vintage treasures! I scored some great things at Goodwill, but my favorite place I stumbled upon was Mast General Store. This very well could be my heaven. The store was full of one of a kind vintage kitchen accessories, toys, metal signs, and barrells of candy. We discovered classic candies like mary jane's, mallo cups, clark bars, slo pokes and our new favorite...charleston chew! Lucky for us they have a website where we can get our fix without the trip!

baby books

At a yard sale this summer, I found a baby book copyrighted 1953 still in it's original box! I was blown away by how gorgeous the illustrations were. Now I have a wonderful little collection of these books, and the most amazing part is that they are blank. I think this would be the ultimate baby gift, or frame some pages and hang them in a nursery. Here are some from my collection.

Some of my favorite things to collect are vintage aprons. As I was searching the web for some new treasures I came across these adorable aprons for children. I love the retro inspiration!

old is new again

There is something so timeless about a little smocked dress. My mom and her friend Theresa would take smocking classes and she would work for hours on special dresses for me. I think that is probably why I am drawn to them and why I like to put them in my store. I am glad to see that some of my favorite designers are still embracing this style with their own twist.

If you received the latest catalog from J.Crew, you like me were probably loving all of the yummy fabric flowers pinned on their garments. When I went to purchase one last night at J.Crew the lovely sales associate informed me that they were no longer available. In fact, they had sold out of them in 2 days! Wow! She leaned closer to me and whispers, "you can find them online at flowersinthecity.com". This is why I LOVE the staff at J.Crew. I feel like they are always going out of their way to help make my life more fashionable! :) As I was browsing the website of flowersinthecity, better known to New Yorkers as Dulken & Derrick, I was delighted to find their flower concoctions in pint-sized versions! I think every girl no matter what age should have a flower like this on her coat this fall!

the name

A lot of people have asked me why I call my shop pink cupcake vintage. For me, there is nothing that makes me happier than the color pink, cupcakes, or better yet...pink cupcakes! Here are some photos of a party I recently gave showing my affection for this confection! My hope is that my little store will make my customer as happy as pink cupcakes make me!
