all I need

A table full of yummy cupcakes, pink roses, vintage bottles, candlelight and the perfect night for an outdoor celebration!

sunday night bite

If you have a Whole Foods near you, then chances are you also have a Whole Foods Grill! Mr. Matty and I quickly became loyal customers of "The Grill at Green Hills" tucked away between the olive oil and fresh produce. What we love most is the feeling of having a personal chef! Head chef Angela will even share some top secret ingredients to some of her tastiest dishes. We are huge fans of the avocado and tomato salad, crab cake BLT, and root beer on tap. If you are looking for something gourmet but not pricey this is the perfect place!

what's that saying...

"If you wore it the first time around you don't get to again", or better yet, "if Amy Grant wore it in any of her Heart In Motion videos you shouldn't"? Target is the latest retailer to bring back my childhood, because today, I ran into an entire rack of black stirrup pants! What in the world? I thought it was bad enough that H&M brought back Mickey and Minnie sweatshirts, and American Apparel brought back the scrunchie, but stirrup pants? If you need more evidence that the 80's are back Target also has a long one button black blazer with the sleeves already rolled up for you. I am now keeping my eyes peeled for white reebok high tops and the sequel to Pee Wee Herman's Big Adventure. Looks like I won't have to wait long.

thrift score thursday: update

This is the dress I got last week in the beautiful packaging for $13.99. I don't love this photograph or how it's styled because I don't think it does the dress justice, but take my word, it is super cute! Believe it or not they are offering an additional 30% off at checkout, that means this dress is less than $10.00!! Hurry sizes and colors are very limited!

the case of the missing button

A few years ago I bought this adorable trench coat from J.CREW. Unfortunately, last year one of the buttons popped off and I have not been able to find a replacement that is a close enough match. Today I decided to call J.CREW on the off chance they might still be using a similar button. What I found out is that they keep all of the clothes returned to them, snip off their buttons, and keep them for people like me! After talking with the peppy customer service rep today she put in an order for them to find me a matching button! How cool is that? I am calling out to you missing button...come to me!

pure barre

Thanks to Sara I learned of pure barre, but did not heed her warning about how hard of a class it was. Let me just say after 2 classes I am barely moving! I have never worked harder in an exercise class in my life, but I am hooked! Equal parts ballet, yoga, weights and pilates, the class seamlessly combines cardio and stretching. If you are lucky enough to have one in your area you HAVE to check it out! Nashville peeps they are running a special of 30 days for $100 for new clients! I will post again in 30 days with my progress!

thrift score thursday: packaging

I was super excited when I scored a fun little dress from the Isaac Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne collection for $13.00, but when it arrived in the mail...the sweet wrapping and note from Isaac made it feel like a $300.00 purchase.

nashville: station inn

To celebrate my birthday, Mr. Matty treated me to back to back nights of live music at the world famous Station Inn! On Monday night we heard the incredible Time Jumpers, and even a cameo performance from Vince Gill! Last night I finally got to see The Doyle and Debbie Show! This is the most fun I have had in a long time! As a local paper said, "a brilliantly tacky tribute to Music City", and they couldn't be more right! I was blown away with the crazy talent of these two actors! If you need a fun night of music, check out the Time Jumpers on Monday and Doyle and Debbie on Tuesday!

before and after

I was very lucky to have Gen come over the other day and help me with the "wall", however once inside, she gave the whole place a makeover! I am so in love with her design style and was thrilled with the end result. I feel like I have a brand new house!

happy birthday brother

Twenty seven years ago yesterday, my brother was born. Since he was born the day before my 5th birthday my parents said he was my birthday present. That was the beginning of an amazing friendship! Happy Birthday Phil! I love you!

spotted and found

When I spotted this adorable bike basket, the hunt was on! Found it here!

music: carney

Every since hearing Reeve Carney open for Jonny Lang a few years back I have been hooked! Lucky for me his new and crazy talented band "Carney" was in town a few nights ago and I got treated to a front row show! The best part of the evening was the cover of my favorite Beatles song "she's so heavy"! Check out their new(ish) EP titled "Carney" and their debut album to hit shelves sometime in November!

nashville: arrington vineyards

Monday night, a few friends and I went a little outside Nashville to visit Arrington Vineyards and have a picnic/wine tasting. What a little hidden treasure! About 13 miles off the interstate and a few farms later you happen upon rows of vineyards that look like something Meg Ryan would have wandered through in "French Kiss". Arrington Vineyards was founded by coutry singer Kix Brooks, and I can't help but wonder if the reason for the breakup of Brooks and Dunn was so he can spend more time in those beautiful vineyards? If you live in or around Nashville, drive out to Arrington and sample some of the best local wine around! My recommendation is the "raspberry" dessert wine...but try it with the homemade dark chocolate truffles they offer! Mmmm

if money were no object

I would have every piece of Kate Spade's new Fall 2009 Apparel Collection! Long gloves are back ladies!

she's done it again

Once again, Zooey Deschanel has made me covet her wardrobe in yet another movie! These photos don't do the clothes justice, but several times during the movie I actually gasped! Lots of fun, flirty, and feminine pieces. If you haven't yet, go see 500 Days Of Summer, it's wonderful!

fair fun and elvis

This weekend Matty and I traveled a little further south to the Williamson County Fair. It's a fair like this that brings out my inner country girl that most of the time I try to hide. There is just something about the smell of cotton candy, manure, and the sound of cloggers that makes me proud to have been raised in the south! We rode the ferris wheel, pirate ship, and the himalaya, but the best part was running into an Elvis impersonator giving a concert next to the pig shed. The even better part was looking him up on the internet to find he just won the title of "world's best elvis". He looked so much like Elvis that Matty caught me blushing. And finally, another first, I had a boy win me something at the fair! Of course this boy was Matty and I learned he can play some mean darts......swoon! If you live in Nashville, check out this fair, it will not disappoint.
