tuppernightmare

This weekend wasn't only spent cooking, it was also spent purging. After the 100th time of opening my cabinet, only to leave me covered in tupperware containers, I decided to toss all that didn't have a matching lid. I have to say my heart feels a little lighter, but I am still not satisfied. Does anyone have any great ideas or suggestions on how to organize re-usable containers?

I struggle with the "Tuppernightmare" too! I did a massive clean-out last summer but need to do it again because it gets out of control. I can't really say I have any ideas on taming the clutter, other than to maybe go through it once every couple of months to keep it neat!! :)

If anyone sends you a great idea, be sure to let me know! We just try to keep the beast tamed.

Container Store has something you can attach to the inside of your cabinet door to hold your lids. That helps a little, but I still have a bit of a "tuppernightmare" even with the lids contained in one place.

(Having said all of that, I just went to the Container Store website and can't find the damn thing. Argh.)

my mom nests the containers inside one another to save space and then puts all the lids in a drawer. so we find the container we need in the cabinet and then pull the lid needed from the drawer. it's not perfect but seems to work alright.

Thanks everyone for the tips! I have a feeling I will revisit this topic soon enough!

I have 3 drawers (one of those plastic Rubbermaid drawer units - it sits in my pantry) that are dedicated to tupperware: Round, Square, and Oblong (because some of them are rectangles and some are kind of ovals). The containers nest inside each other, and the lids usually end up stacked vertically against the sides of the drawers. Sometimes a lid will sit underneath its mate as they nest together. It's not a perfect system, but the key for me was finally deciding to split them up according to shape - I can finally find what I'm looking for! And everybody has a place to live. :)
