nashville: karen elson & haute couture

Last night, I had the pleasure of listening to a lecture given by fellow Nashvillian Karen Elson, and hosted by my friend Libby, about the world of modeling and Haute Couture. This kicked off the grand opening of the Golden Age of Couture exhibit now at the Frist. Karen, or Mrs. Jack White as she is known around Nashville, is one of the most down to earth celebrities I have ever witnessed. She spoke about her life as a model, mom, musician, small business owner and wife. Her love for fashion and respect for it's designers overflowed as she spoke about her 20 plus years in the business. She told tales of grueling photo shoots, painful wardrobes, and crazy requests (she once shaved her eyebrows for a photo). Thanks to Karen for a wonderfully entertaining evening. If you live in Nashville, you must go see this incredible exhibit now running through September 12th. Also, check the Frist calendar for other special events related to the Golden Age of Couture.

I have to say, the whole time I was watching her...all I could think of was Sophie. It's like Sophie channels her but doesn't know it! :)
