it's the little things

As I mentioned in a previous post, Mr. Matty and I have been needing a little updating around the house. It's amazing what a few little changes can do to bring new life to a space. 

 Here we had a new outlet put over this space and added this Sputnik chandelier. We instantly feel like the space is warmer and more inviting. (side note: when we bought this chandelier, we ran into Sara McLachlan singing the Sara Bareilles song that was playing overhead on the store speakers. I love Nashville.)

 It's amazing what a rug can do to make an open space feel like a room. 

We added some more seating so that everyone now has a place to sit.

 We used to have our TV on top of our mantle, but after seeing one too many Martha Stewart mantle displays, I wanted my mantle back. Mr. Matty surprised me one night when I got home by moving the TV to the bookshelves. We love that the TV is not the focus of the room anymore.
